are violent
a boy barely a man
from the village down road, a village of seven hundred
people
was slain a few days ago. he was slain in another town
days away from here
over peace. he just wanted it quiet for a while.
there is a law on the other coast, changed from ‘bark and
hold’ to
‘bite and hold’. it works, this law, there is proof. a young
man with one
hundred stitches from the inside of his knee to his
package to prove it
from a police dog that wouldn’t stop because the cop didn't want it to.
these times like all times
pain is prevalent
where do we go to endure and accept this pain? it is hard
for me to grasp
acceptance during these times. what do we do? are we just
feral with neck ties
and computers?
bite and hold
let the flesh fall from me
as the knife and the dogs teeth
and the smiling cop
make it right
and then when all is done
will it stop?
will this stop
when there is nothing left?
Robert, this is so painful, I can hardly read it...but I am glad you wrote it. I also appreciate your Bucky Fuller quote about love.
ReplyDeletethank you Dan.
ReplyDeletewhere did i quote mister Fuller? i am not so aware.
Hey! Under that picture of your foot...top right.... : )
ReplyDeleteDan - yes yes i don't even remember putting it there!
ReplyDeletefool that i am.
lead the dogs to water if you can...they cannot swim as well as man.
ReplyDeleteI think neckties are indeed designed (like so much else) to distract us from our beast - the more
we learn to play the zither, wear fine robes, and keep stores, the less threat we are. Thanks as always for the poems sir!
Peter - thank YOU kind sir for the wonderful comment.
